We took the Dyna in to get the brakes fixed and were able to borrow someone else’s vehicle. We got 21 of us into this 10-seater! We were very cozy! Today started the morning sessions. I preached for the first hour. Then we split up. I took the boys and Kirsten took the girls. It will be this way each day, with preaching for all in the evening.
We spent the day getting some shopping done since the meeting doesn’t start till the evening. Kirsten had Mary with her – one of our good youth girls. This is only the 2nd time Mary has been to Hagen. And, it was the first time in the grocery store! Kirsten had a good time showing her things and describing what things were or what they were used for. Mary’s eyes were huge as she took everything in! We had a good time at church tonight. I preached on “Our Supreme Commander”, God!
After church today we loaded up and headed to Hagen! We brought 19 of the youth with us. Brad is graciously allowing them to sleep in his Sunday School classrooms. The Mt. Hagen Temple Back to School Youth Rally starts tomorrow. Some of the bridges we cross are a little sub-par. This one has some firewood over the holes. It’s the same bridge I fell through last week.
We made our preparations for leaving for Hagen tomorrow. It takes awhile, but we eventually get it all done! The kids and I also spent part of our Saturday working on the fish pond. We rearranged rocks for a little waterfall. Very cathartic!
We continued work on the window frames. We were able to get all the wood cut and will start to assemble them when we return from Hagen. Hello, from Derrick!
I checked out the truck today and saw that the fuel line was bad. I now have the piece out and will find a replacement piece when we go to town. But, this means I won’t be able to go to the meeting in Timbari. I am disappointed because I was looking forward to preaching there. We cut window frames for the print shop today. Here’s Lawrence – he helped me in the workshop. The Keremini boys continued their work on the stucco.
I left for Timbari today, but after only an hour into the trip I had to stop. The fuel line was leaking and I could see a split in it. I ended up having to return home. The engine was also very hot. By the time it cooled down enough to touch the rain had come. So we will have to wait till tomorrow to try to see if we can fix it and get to the meeting. We worked more on stucco. Here’s Trevor, up on the scaffolding. It is most definitely not OSHA approved!
Again, we cut more wood today. Three loads of sand (for the stucco) were brought from the river. I let the kids have a long lunch break and go for the last load of sand. They swam in the river and had a picnic lunch. The had a great time! Here’s Amber’s 3 ducklings. They are growing quickly!
We worked more on cutting wood today. I also spent some time preparing for the meeting this week. I will go to Timbari on Wednesday to start preaching Thursday morning. It ends Friday evening.
We had a good day at church today. Amber had 7 visitors in her Jr. Church class. I preached this afternoon and, thankfully, all was finished before this rainstorm hit! It was quite windy and had powerful rain! This is the type of storm that, if preaching, makes you sit down and wait for it to finish. The noise on the metal roof makes it impossible to preach over! So, thankfully, God held it off just long enough!
